Desert Training 2013

I told a friend of mine the other day that my excuse for not writing a blog since January (yikes!) is that I've been busier and more tired than I've been in a long time. But being busy and tired is a good thing because it means that I'm back training and doing what I love to do!

I came out to Phoenix in early January with the intent of staying until I was back in shape and ready to race again. It's been an amazing few months - finishing off my rehab at Endurance Rehab and making the transition back to full time training with some awesome training partners. Not to mention training in the heat which I love! I still have some work to do to get back to where I want to be, but as long as each week is better than the previous week, I'll take it. On my long run today, I realized that this was my biggest run week since August of 2011. So yes, I'll take it. :)

My first race of the season will be the Leadman Tri in Tempe on April 14th - 2.5km swim, 111.5km bike, 11km run - and then I'll head back to San Diego. More to come in the next few weeks. Onwards and upwards 'til then!

Hey Donna. Did you train at Athletes Performance in 2005?

Hey Steve, yes, I was at Athletes Performance in, I believe, the spring of 2005 following IT band surgery.

As soon as a careful browse I thought it was really enlightening. I take pleasure in you taking the time and effort to put this blog post together. I once again discover me personally spending way to much time both reading and leaving comments. Triathlon Shorts

“...as long as each week is better than the previous week, I'll take it.” That's a great way to look at it! Recovery and rehab is perhaps the toughest part in suffering an injury because there are times when progress is slow or non-existent, or worst yet, there's a setback. It's great to hear that you're almost at 100%. Good luck with your competition, Donna!

A triathlon is an athletic event that tests the athlete's endurance in three separate sports - swimming, cycling and running.
